The raffle is a fund raiser for us, and we do need the money, without the raffle there would likely be no more LeachLANs. So consider that by buying raffle tickets you are ensuring the continuation of our LANs.

Raffle != Charity.

Toilet Smell: As with any problem with the event, please come tell us at the front desk. We might not be able to deal with it immediately, but we will get something done about it as soon as possible.

Great LAN, I don't have much bad to say really, it was great fun.

The Good:
-More stuff to do and better organised, there seemed to be more interest in some of the big games this time round which was good. H&S CSS was hilarious.
-About the optimal amount of people for the venue (the ' more social layout' was better), there were more people at LL2 and it seemed a bit too crowded then.
-Tasty Chinese. Kudos to doing both Chinese and pizza orders :)
-Pub quiz was good fun, and made a nice break from gaming.

The bad:
-No projector games :(
-Bringing speakers and being told we couldn't use them -I understand this decision completely, but I think speakers should be allowed as long as they are kept on low volume so that only the person at their pc can hear them but it doesn't bother anyone else. I don't think that rule would be too hard to enforce at a small LAN like this. The reason being that wearing headphones for 2 days straight can be very uncomfortable, and you have to take them off to talk to anyone which is a problem if you want to be social or talk to friends around you while you play -either that or play with no sound at all. If you're going to continue with the no speakers rule, its needs to be made clearer beforehand as I and a few others could of saved some space and time by not bringing them.

Thats it, its pretty minor but thats the only thing bad I have to say really. Great LAN guys, good work :)

I agree about the raffle money and charity. Maybe if you split the money 50/50 with some charity? I would of probably forked out for some tickets if I knew a percentage was for charity, so you could end up making more money for swlans anyway if you decided to go the charity route.

The Good
Epic fun. Enjoyed myself hugely, more than at LL2.
This may have been due mostly to TINY TRAINS though!
Unofficial big games well-populated - CoD4, Hidden and suchlike were great.
Late-night atmosphere was good - was good fun watch Children of Dune until 5AM Saturday morning, playing Hidden etc. Noone was yelling in the campsite (you coould hear people inside yelling, but whatever - wasn't a problem and people should be allowed to shout inside!)
Source-mod big games were also excellent - Hide and Seek provided painful amounts of lols.
My chinese arrived. I ate it. I didn't get aids - win!
Burgers also didn't give me aids.
No technical problems that were the fault of SWLANs :P
Arcade machine > Projectorgames - doesn't take millions of people away from big games, or make horrid noises at 2AM when you're trying to be sneaky in Hidden!
Good company. Got talking to a few more people this LAN, walked around screenwatching for a bit. Sniper war with Riot in sourceforts \o/

The bad
There still seemed to be epic queueage for boogers - dunno whether that is due to people's inability to wait to start queueing, or due to being called to early or something.
I didn't play Zool on the arcade machine :(
I didn't take part in the pub quiz... Still not decided whether I'm for or against it. On the one hand it sounds like it was awesome fun and about gaming, not general knowledge. On the other hand I was there to play games rather than quiz about them! Fortunately Dan and I could play OpenTTD during this lull.
Being woken up by A) a flock of sheep being driven somewhere B) a cow going MOO very suddenly and C) Dan unzipping his... sleeping bag. Oh wait, that's not bad!
WildFire had to go home on Saturday evening :(

The ugly
Toilets got a bit grimy towards the end, but nowhere near as horrible as last time.

Once again, overall a great experience. A+++ would buy again.

The girls toilets weren't a problem! Then again, there was 3 of us. Surely though, the staff must use the toilets aswell? Wouldn't you notice the smell yourselves? Or is there a seperate staff loo?

The Good
Event as a whole.

The particularly good
- Pub quiz - was very enjoyable and a great break from sitting at your computer the entire weekend
- Chinese order - well done on the rather large task of getting both large food orders sorted out (the delivery I received was spot on and pretty efficient so no issues here).
- The updated "social" seating plan.
- Hot showers.

The Bad
- A little annoying that the net went down, though I understand this was not your fault.
- I couldn't join some of the big game servers because they were full (though I understand most games have server limits and that you'd already put them on their maximum so unsure what could be done about this).
- Being told before the LAN that speakers were band would have been nice, I can understand why you didn't want them, but the headset I'd bought was as an afterthought and I never really wanted to have to use it all weekend as ended up being the case.

All in all a good event and I eagerly await the next one. :)

tl;dr: vg.

Good:
  • Early entry was ready on time which was excellent
  • I played a lot of games and never really found myself at a loose end
  • Longer bar opening hours went down very well
  • Tournaments were well organised
  • Great crowd
  • Most big games seemed consistently really well populated this time
  • ..even the unofficial ones like yay CoD4
  • BBQ cheese keeps getting cheesier :D
  • My finished-Thursday-afternoon (right before leaving for LL3) watercooling did not leak! (and it still hasn't yet)

Meh:
  • Most of the games on the big games list were Source games. A bit moar variety may be good?
  • Couple o' the big games seemed to fail majorly since very few people seemed to have even heard of them. [cf. AHL2, Science & Industry for HL1 (!)]

Bad (none of it to do with LL itself):
  • Every LL I keep forgetting to bring enough blankety stuff and get too cold in the night
  • I had to leave a day early - missed the big food order, pub quiz, UT2004 big game, raffle, prizes (lots of cool stuff basically). I also missed the power and net outages (so there is some justice...)
